The Herds Inn at Hedgebrook The Herds Inn is a farm vacation rental for the whole family. Located on a peaceful working family dairy and apple farm in operation since 1907, we are just minutes from Historic Winchester at the top of the Shenandoah Valley - “Gateway to the South”. Our log home has been constructed from two restored 1800’s tobacco barns combined with hand hewn logs. The foundation, chimney, and fireplace are limestone rocks gathered by us from our land. Cypress wood was extracted from the local National Fruit Apple Plant’s vinegar vats and recycled to make the stunning hardwood floors. The kitchen is a work of art featuring rustic handmade cabinets and memorableia of our family. Breath-taking views of the North Mountains can be seen from the front porch. You can also watch the farm animals grazing in the green pastures. Reserve your seat at sunset…the front porch is the perfect spot to enjoy the large golden sun sliding down behind the mountains as it sets in the west.
